WOW, what an PHENOMENAL BOOK!!!! In fact, it's one of those books I wish they would make into a MOVIE!!

This book was recommended to me and it is one of the few recommendations I have been grateful for because I don't think I would have ever come across it on my own. That thought saddens me too because WOW this book was PHENOMENAL!

It took me a while to read this book simply because I was reading it with a co-worker. Had I not done that, I probably would have read it in 24 hours. It was that addicting once you got past all the necessary development chapters. Let's be honest, there are some books that need this and this book is one of those so whatever you do, DON'T GIVE UP reading this book. Keep at it!!!!

I will admit that I was everywhere on the emotional scale. I'm not going to lie. I was crying many times throughout the book and gripping my kindle so tight in many others from the suspense. Yelling at characters was another common occurrence while reading this.

Now I am not going to lie and say that this is an easy read. In fact, I think it might be just the opposite. The matter of the book is deep as you can guess. What is even more scary is that this type of stuff does happen. So while I may seem dark right now, please don't let this deter you from reading it.

So what makes this book so wonderful? Well, the writing is outstanding. With each chapter you get a characters point of view so you are not left guessing what is going on in the minds of another character. LOVE IT!

The detail and thought behind this book. I'm not kidding when I say that this book would make FABULOUS movie. It has all the elements for a great action packed, mystery/suspense, with a hint of romance. WOW! I mean really what more could you ask for a in book. Really, I ask you?

Another great element of the book is the characters. They can be very much real. They have their flaws, fears and issues. While the situation may not be one that occurs in someones everyday life, it is definitely plausible. To me when books are like that, they are even better.

Bottom line, this book has made it to the list of my absolute favorites I loved it that much and who knows, it could very well end up on my paperback self. It is just that good!

This book is amazing. It is a non-stop thrill ride that will keep your pulse pounding and keep you turning pages well into the night. Meet Tyler Karras. He has a great life. Until he doesn't. What I especially loved about this book is how Thompson deftly handles the plot twists. I never saw what was coming next! I read a lot of thrillers and I can usually predict the course of a novel by the second or third chapter. It was exceedingly refreshing to read a book that kept me so enthralled and actually made me gasp aloud. All the incredible twists were not what I expected and for me, that made this book very original. I love a book with good, unpredictable twists in its plot that reads well and keeps you turning pages even when you should be doing other things! This book does that.

What I also love about this book, among other things, is that it is fast-paced and wildly entertaining and it also has depth. This book is not just a run-of-the-mill man-and-woman-in-jeopardy thriller. It asks how far would you go? If someone took everything from you, how far would you go to get revenge? If someone you loved was in deep trouble, how far would you go to protect them, to help them? This book asks how well do you really know yourself? Can a good person do unspeakable things? Is there redemption after touching the fiery face of hell? Tyler Karras is the answer to these questions and he does not disappoint. You will feel his struggles, his grief and despair, his guilt and self-hatred in your bones. You will cheer desperately as he tries to set things right. Hannah acts as a kind of foil for him, meeting the unexpected terrors that Tyler has mistakenly set upon her with calm determination. You will cringe at what she has to go through but you'll respect her character all the more for the strength and grace she shows. She is Tyler's redemption personified. These characters are complex and well-drawn and the terrifying moments that draw them together make the moments of intimacy that much more poignant. You will connect to them on a visceral level. I was captivated by them both and the relationship that developed between them against the backdrop of loss and violence. As is usually the case in life, nothing goes as intended. These are regular people thrust into unimaginable situations and their drama will keep you riveted for hours.
